Demo Policy

Inertial Music – Demo Submission Guidelines

First of all, thank you for even thinking of us. As musicians ourselves, it still feels strange to write a "demo policy" — it sounds colder than we'd like — but since we do receive quite a few submissions (which we truly appreciate), we want to offer a few thoughts based on our experience from the receiving side.

If we could go back in time to when we were sending out demos ourselves, now that we're running this small label, we’d probably keep these things in mind.

Before submitting, please take a moment to really explore what we do — musically, visually, and in terms of ethos. Inertial Music exists at the intersection of metal, ambient, and dark electronic music. This range can be disorienting, but it also means we’re unlikely to release a bossanova album anytime soon. Ask yourself: Would my project bring something valuable and meaningful to this label’s existing ecosystem?

We are a small community. While we do have solid distribution and work hard on our physical and digital presence, we’re not part of any major label group. We don’t chase numbers or trends — we care about artistry, coherence, and depth.

So:
Please personalize your message.
Introduce yourself briefly. Tell us what your music is about, what message it carries, and why you think Inertial Music is the right place for it.

We don’t care about your follower count on Spotify or Instagram. If your project moves us, we’re in — and we’ll work together to grow your audience organically. That said, we do look for a professional mindset when it comes to sound quality, presentation, and aesthetic consistency.

If you have one, feel free to include a press kit. If not, just write a short bio directly in the email.
Please send us a complete, finished record — no singles, no works-in-progress, no rough masters. Use Dropbox, Google Drive or (preferably) a private SoundCloud link.

Having said that, if your project is still in progress but you strongly think we should know about it early (i.e. important musicians involved or guests), we’re happy to listen.

We do our best to respond to everyone. But if you don’t hear back from us, it may be because:

  • your message was incomplete or lacked a listening link,

  • it was far outside the styles we work with,

  • or it felt like a generic, mass email without real intent.

It also happens that demos land in the spam folder — if you don’t hear back within two weeks, please don’t hesitate to follow up.

Send everything to:

Thanks again for considering us.
